Building & Mechanical Trades or Apprenticeship

Established in 2017 by Hugh and Marilyn Madson of Stillwater, the Building & Mechanical Trades or Apprenticeship Scholarship supports graduating Stillwater Area High School students pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

The scholarship is available to students planning to enroll in an apprenticeship program, vocational or technical school, or a two- or four-year college in preparation for a career in the construction, building, or mechanical trades. Eligible fields include, but are not limited to: carpentry, construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, automotive technology, aviation mechanics, masonry, roofing, refrigeration, and other skilled trades.

Scholarship Award

  • Up to two scholarships are awarded each year.

  • Each scholarship is valued at $2,000.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be graduating from Stillwater Area High School.

  • Plan to pursue education or training in a construction, building, or mechanical trade.

  • Submit the required application and essay.

Application Deadline

Applications are due the last Friday in March.

Hainlen Orchestra Scholarship

This scholarship celebrates outstanding student musicians while honoring the lasting legacy of longtime Stillwater orchestra director Jim Hainlen. Supported through The Partnership Plan's Jim Hainlen Orchestra Legacy Endowment, this annual scholarship recognizes a Stillwater Area High School orchestra student who has demonstrated excellence, commitment, and passion for music.

Scholarship Award

  • One scholarship is awarded each year.

  • The scholarship is valued at $1,000.

Selection Process

There is no application required for this scholarship. The recipient is selected by the Stillwater Area High School Orchestra Department in collaboration with members of the Orchestra Endowment Committee, with the award administered through Stillwater Area High School.
